Surviving an Association Merger - Innovation Circle
Have you ever experienced or been involved with the process of two associations merging? Or, do you ever anticipate this could happen to your association sometime down the road? If so, I would like to engage you in conversation as a part of a "Surviving Association Merger" Innovation Circle.
A little background info: My board of directors has been in discussions with the board of a directors of another closely allied association for several months. Both boards have now voted to approve a recommendation of the merger to the members. It is now up to the members of both associations to vote on the plans to merge. After that happens, I will have to learn how best to manage: a new, combined board of directors, getting to know new members and their needs, learning to work with new staff and allocation of their responsibilities, combining member programs and office operations, etc.
To get the discussion going, I'm open to whatever format or method of conversation that best suits anyone interested.
- If there are more than a couple people in the Madison area, I'd be up for getting together over a couple drinks and talking about merger issues.
- A phone conference could work if getting together in person is not convenient.
- Exchanging messages on the WSAE Connected Community is another possibility.
I will organize and compile whatever information and advice that is generated for this topic so that it will be available for anyone who might need this information anytime in the future.
Please let me know if you are interested in participating in this topic. Thank you!
