Many thanks to everyone who attended WSAE's National Summit on Association Innovation on September 14-15 in Madison, WI. I hope you all got as much out of the conference as I did, and are ready to start championing innovation and innovative practices in your own organization.

10 years ago on 9/11/01 we were all shocked into the reality that our world had changed forever with the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a sleepy little borough, with a population of 245 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  We all have our own personal stories from that day, some more dynamic and dramatic than others, but a little bit of all of us changed on that beautiful, clear sky day ten years ago. The other day I was aghast to hear of a story told by a relative in Connecticut.  She mentioned that they survived the hurricane and the torrid Irene rains quite well, but that they had been without power for days.  Thankfully they had a generator and that they were able to maintain basic human needs while awaiting an expected lengthy lapse of power from the electric company.  Their neighbor, who by the grace of God still had power was irritated by the constant noise of the generator and requested our relative to please turn it off so that they could have some peace and quiet.  What are these people thinking?
